Tree Treasure

Last winter I found a black and soaked branch collar (takkraag) in the woods.
After letting it dry slowly, to prevent cracks, it's on the wall now.
I just love it. To surround yourself with beauty can be easy.
It doesn't have to be expensive or 'arty-farty' at all.

Craftsmanship

I'm so impressed by these handmade spoons and tea canisters!
Why not enjoy the beauty of arts and crafts everyday?

Just to be clear: this is not a sponsored post.
I just want to let you know where I got them in case you're interested.

∙ The spalted beech wooden spoon is made by Patrizia.
∙ The black urushi spoon is made by wood artisan Tomii Takashi.
∙ The tea canisters from Karmi series are made in Yamanaka and designed by THINGS
(Satoshi Yasushima & Tomoko Honda). I bought them from KotoTea shop at Etsy.

Be aware you might have to pay considerable taxes to Customs!

Demolition

Early February there was a serious storm (you can find my earlier post here).
This afternoon we went for a walk on the other side of the canal...
Therefore we got a much beter idea of the demolition.

Maintenance

(still wet)

The oak dining table desperately needed some care.

The wood isn't protected with any varnish, oil or wax.
That's why I soap it regularly to get rid of the stains with a
white pigmented Woca soap because I don't like yellowish wood.

I just love the pale colour and the silky touch of the oak wooden table...

Sunday Walk

As soon as the rain stopped, we went for a Pijnven walk.

Several wooden sculptures along the way to entertain the childeren :)

Luxury

We have been passing this luxurious sheep shed on our walking route.
We (the kenderman, the cats and me) could live there happily ever after!
I promise we would build another shed for the sheep ☺︎

Antique

Thanks to my mum and dad, we recently bought a Swedish antique chest of drawers.
Just when everybody else is getting rid of his/her antiques nowadays ☺︎
(Now I owe you some pictures with much more daylight and skirting boards!)

Our New Chairs

Often you can find Nim lying on one of the chairs at the dining table.
You can see her lying on the left black chair.

We bought some "new" vintage seafoam DSX Eames chairs.
I just love the seafoam colour!

.

This drawing hung in my parents' home for as long as I can remember.
I've always loved it. The rough slate and the realistic monochrome drawing itself.
Originally this slate tile lay on the roof of a church on one of the Wadden Islands.
Upcycling and selling the old tiles provided the necessary funds for a new roof.

Now it's the first thing that catches my eye when I enter my kitchen.
Thank you mum and dad ☆
