Vincent's Shoes

According to my dad my aunt painted 'Vincent's Shoes' for me ☺︎

Already the shoes seemed a bit too modern to me

when my aunt mentioned her inspiration came from minister Hugo de Jonge's shoes.

At that time he was ordained as minster of health, on the king's staircase platform.

She said his shoes were made by multiplied disabled people.

Due to the press he wore handmade Portugese shoes.

But What's in a Name?

Besides isn't that what art is all about?

Multiple interpretation possible, it's all in the eye of the beholder.

I just enjoy the 'skon skoen' ☺︎

Long Gone

I'm not thinking about the smaller details right now,

just want to fill lots of boxes to bring asap to charity.

In the dead of winter my biological calendar is way off course 

or the minimalism virus is taking it's toll (big smile).

Yes! A few days before Christmas our new bed finally arrived!

 It can be pretty hard to make the bed with a bengal around ☺︎

Still missing a couple bedside lamps and skirting boards but we're getting there...

Our New Chairs

Often you can find Nim lying on one of the chairs at the dining table.

You can see her lying on the left black chair.

We bought some "new" vintage seafoam DSX Eames chairs.

I just love the seafoam colour!

 This drawing hung in my parents' home for as long as I can remember.

I've always loved it. The rough slate and the realistic monochrome drawing itself.
Originally this slate tile lay on the roof of a church on one of the Wadden Islands.
Upcycling and selling the old tiles provided the necessary funds for a new roof.

Now it's the first thing that catches my eye when I enter my kitchen.
Thank you mum and dad ☆

Interior

I've been gradually changing my working space.

We bought a secondhand PHE table which will be my new desk.

But first the kenderman had to sand it and I had to oil and soap it.

Here you can't see the end result yet..... but this is what it looked like before.....

I sort of have to keep changing things :)

DIY

We bought an identical table to the one we already have.
My earlier posts here and here.

 So the kenderman could start sanding again ......
This oiled and orangy table was in desperate need of some work

this is how it looks like after some serious sanding

Now I'm planning on finishing this table asap with a white oil

and (after an couple of days) protecting the table with white soap.

Mill

Last Sunday we went to a (for us a bit dissapointing) plant market.

On our way down there we talked about being (plant) spoiled :)

Just like we expected there were no interesting plants to us but we inspected the mill instead.

Shaker

Yesterday we went to the flea market where I found this woven bamboo basket.

It costed me just 1 € and I love it. It reminds me of the beautiful Shakers' style.

This front door is probably not as old as it appears to be......

Sandman

We bought a used table.
It was designed by Piet Hein Eek and this table was made in 1993/1994.

The table top in desperate need of some work......

And finally.......

Last wednesday the kenderman has been sanding for a couple of hours.
I'll show you the result tomorrow.

Slippers

It's time to put on my felt slippers and sit by the fire.

I'm such a lucky woman!

Sunlight

The quality of light is changing due to the position of the sun this time of year.

It gives you a different perspective on your surroundings.

For instance this presumably smooth wall is quite rough. 

The floodlight is creating a perspective view revealing those normally unseen details.

This change in the amount of sunlight is one thing I like about the changing seasons!
