Piet Hein Eek

One of my old time favourite designers is Piet Hein Eek.

His business, located in a former industrial Philips building, is worthwhile a visit.

I can recommend a nice lunch and a stroll through the showroom.

Piet Hein Eek

Yesterday I went to PHE to have lunch with a former colleague of mine.... Antoon.

We share a common interest in art, antiques and design...

and I really enjoyed talking to him again.

PHE

Piet Hein Eek has developed an old Philips building and is located here since 2010.

Accompagnied by my (former) colleague Antoon, it was time for another visit.

 I really like this space... if the fireplace isn't smoking too much ☺︎

Sometimes I can take a peek at the PHE team sharing their lunch.

It's such a beautiful sight but I can't convince myself to take their picture.

At least during lunchtime they should have some peace and quiet.

I really like the building of one of my favourite designers Piet Hein Eek.

This was the first time it was only me visiting the showroom.

(note for myself: don't go there after a couple of hot days)

Reorganise

On wednesday I've been reorganising my cupboard.
Closely being observed by some curious cats...

Mats was fascinated by these drawers :)

Yesterday I went to Piet Hein Eek.
Piet Hein Eekhoorn has been visiting our hazel today.

Obviously no coincidence ;)

Office II

DIY

We bought an identical table to the one we already have.
My earlier posts here and here.

 So the kenderman could start sanding again ......
This oiled and orangy table was in desperate need of some work

this is how it looks like after some serious sanding

Now I'm planning on finishing this table asap with a white oil

and (after an couple of days) protecting the table with white soap.

PHE

Me and my mum went to Piet Hein Eek today. You can see more photo's here.

PHE is one of my favourite Dutch designers for a long time because of his use of scrapwood.

I guess I discovered him in the early nineties.
Not being able to afford his scrapwooden cupboard then.

 In 2003 when the kenderman and I got married we bought one chair and some time later a second one.

Five years later we bought our first house and after a while a PHE scrapwooden cupboard.

 I'm so glad we're still enjoying our house, our cupboard
and (smile) most importantly each other's company :)
Last year we sold the PHE chairs to be able to buy a vintage Eames chair.
I'm a so called design victim ;)

Sale

This week it's sale at Piet Hein Eek!

It wasn't easy but I've managed to leave PHE empty handed :)

Table

 Sil is still testing: is it stable enough?

Is it a good lookout?

I think Sil likes this sturdy furniture too :-)

Warm Wood

We bought this Ahrend chair 18 years ago. It was very ugly!!

The frame was still darkgreen and the wood was covered in foam and a fake leather covering.

The kenderman stripped the wood and we had the metal sandblasted and powder coated in grey.

I use the warmth of wood to balance all the cool whites in our house.

One of my favourite designers is Piet Hein Eek.

Some people might think it's just a lot of over-priced rubbish but I love his furniture of reclaimed wood.

Boxes

In the small one is our message in a bottle.
