I kept thinking about a DIY show case for my beach finds and

for weeks I've been looking for a glass cover for the ceramic tray with beach finds.

Today I found a glass tray... but it didn't fit over the ceramic base.

Then I tried this wooden top of a ceramic tray as a base. Perfect fit!

Underneath here you can see why I need such a heavy glass protection (smile)...

New Belfast Sink

After almost 2 years, we finally replaced our damaged Belfast sink.

The damage, a big crack, was caused by a stupid fitter who

emptied our Quooker tank to be able to do some maintenance.

Seven liters of boiling water poured on a stone cold porcelain sink.

Followed by some cold water after the reservoir was completely empty.

The sink just couldn't handle the thermal shock and cracked...

So, after doing some research, I found and bought a similar new porcelain sink.
The kenderman and me installed the new Belfast sink today.

We managed to fit it eventually... with the help of some candle wax ☺︎

Transformation

project XVII

In case you're wondering why I haven't been posting anything........ 

I have been painting my socks off!

Yesterday we moved the cabinet to the living.... finally!

It should transform this cluttered corner in my working space....

Then I discovered the shelves aren't as white as the cabinet itself...

Still not done yet (sigh)

I just know it will keep bothering me so I'll have to paint some more.

Can't wait to place my books! Grrrrr

Project XVII

I've been searching for a long time but we've bought a vintage laboratory cabinet.

It used to belong to the Technische Hogeschool Eindhoven (TU/e nowadays) and it has
two sliding doors with glass. Finally our books will be protected from cat nails.
But first we will be sanding and painting for days...

Front Door

This won't come as a surprise... I've been painting again.

There is still some cleaning, weeding and planting to be done.

But first I want to start painting the biggest door of the house.

Back Door

Yesterday the weather was perfect... so I've been painting
outside shutters and the back door in this greyish green colour.

I think this colour, Sigma S 3005-G50Y (English, Dutch),

works really well with the bricks and the blue stone.

Since I started painting again, it seems really hard to stop ;)

Luckily there is quite a lot of painting that needs to be done.

The brass door handle is one of the last ones that needs to be replaced.
Inside we've changed the door handles within a year.
We kind of ignored the handles on the outside doors :))

Harlequin Deco

We've been busy demolishing our upstairs 'harlequin' toilet.

We hated it from the start but it took us 9 years to do something about it!

DIY

                      I've been transforming a tatty envelope into a passport sleeve.

Being closely observed in the meantime...

Now I hope to receive another Tyvek envelope so I can improve the prototype :)

IKEA

I don't like flat packs!
But the kenderman has gone to work.... and as an independent kenderfrau....

Luckily alle the bits and pieces were there....

Still I could use some help and Nim loves flat packs! You can check it here.

Extended

We've been extending our windowsill so Nim could lie down comfortably.

In just two more days she'll have to share this extra space with a friend :)

DIY

We bought an identical table to the one we already have.
My earlier posts here and here.

 So the kenderman could start sanding again ......
This oiled and orangy table was in desperate need of some work

this is how it looks like after some serious sanding

Now I'm planning on finishing this table asap with a white oil

and (after an couple of days) protecting the table with white soap.

This old Ikea cabinet looks so much better now.

Perhaps you noticed ......... we're in desperate need of a plinth :)

DIY

Sanding and painting....... one of my tasks for today.

Good Job

Today I'm doing some DIY.

The kenderman made this running board for Nim because she likes heights.

But the smoothness of the board and a furious Bengal ......... quite a hazardous combination :)

So I'm adjusting it into a multifunctional object: running board / scratching post.

This is the end result.

 This morning we stil had a couple of fencing poles left....

 The kenderman is trying to spare the plants while he's removing the last pole :-)
