Armhuis

Today a diner for two at the Armhuis...

Several courses of delicious food and wine...

We ate the smelt appetizer with skin and hair (smile)

followed by a beetroot infused appetizer croquette...
we couldn't help thinking of good friends and much better tasting "bitterballen"

the next courses were really tasty...

Several Seasons in a Day

Wednesday morning walk on the beach...

In the afternoon cycling to 't Posthuys... dark and rainy at the beginning...

Bright and blue at the Posthuys...

Towards the village, heading east again, grey and getting dark...

On the Island

What to do having set foot on the island?

∙dropping off our bags at the luggage carrier
∙picking up the key for the holiday home
∙renting some bikes (e-bikes for the first time)
∙shopping for some basic groceries (home delivery)
∙and crashing on the terrace (big smile)

It feels like coming home again...

Autumn

The first day of fall is upon us...

Autumn traditionally starts on September 21
The Autumnal equinox begins in the Northern hemisphere on Monday, September 23

We have 4 seasons in a year here and I enjoy all four of them.
Right now I'm looking forward to the discolouring and shedding of the leaves,
the variety of mushrooms in the woods and the smell of autumn.

Weekend!

I'm really sorry for my absence... I've been too busy.

But the specimen pots have been washed on the outside.
Some of them can use a good clean on the inside as well.

For now I'm wishing you a nice and tranquil weekend!

Material Matters

Last Sunday one of my wishes came true!

If only it could have been my main wish for
world peace and fair distribution of wealth...
(deep sigh)

For almost two years I've been "dreaming" about a
way too expensive set of antique specimen jars...

It's origin, we've been told,
an antique set of specimen jars from the university of Namen
with a content of special cacti...

Finally I "haggled" a much better price, only half of the original price,
suggesting I was an antiques dealer myself (big smile)...

Sometimes patience can be worth while!

The jars being in desperate need of a good cleaning...

You can see an earlier picture of the set in the antiques shop here
