Chuffed!

In case you've been visiting my blog for a longer time,
you might know I'm a huge fan of artist Gerrit Neven.
You can find earlier posts: here and here.

Recently we were lucky enough to meet and talk to him again!

When we bought our fist watercolour from this artist,
I did mention I'm really fond of pollarded willows (smile).

And then unexpectedly we received an email... Gerrit Neven was
hesitating to say goodbye to his most favourite watercolour ever but...
he was probably also realising we would cherish the work in our living room
after having been the pièce de résistance in his living for quite some time.
Thankfully he thought of us, his Belgian admirers (big smile).

Art and Coffee

(brasserie Thialf)

Yesterday we visited Kunst op de Koffie in Arnhem.

A biennial event where you can meet artists, exhibiting in other peoples homes.

KodK aims to find a nice artist and homeowner combo.

Such a great combination! Art and access to "strange" houses.

To me the best of both worlds! ★

We started our tour at No 06 : Karel van Gelderstraat 43.

A new build home filled with paintings of Mariës Hendriks
(find more posts about her work here and here).

 I enjoyed talking to the owner about his house, interior design and art.

Game of Thrones

I'm sorry for my absence at the blog. I've been busy starting a new job.

Sometimes we are witnessing and involved in a struggle for power...
at work or even at home. Male Mats (on the right) is so much bigger
and much more muscled than female Nim (on the left).

Regularly we just have to interfere to protect Nim.

A couple of months ago we bought this new piece of art by Faan Olgers.

 The artist used reclaimed wood for the tower that can be dismantled.
Because of the round base you need the drawer (on the right) to balance.

We saw this piece 5 years ago when we picked up a table at the sellers home.

We both really liked this piece but the asking price was way too much!

Five years later I came across the same piece again, for sale on the internet.

 After a bold proposition, we visited the seller in his new and much
smaller home and agreed on 1/3 of the original price (haha!)

It's somehow a symbolic piece.

For quite some time I've been battling and now I "tore down the tower" (big smile)

Creepy

Some people think it's creepy but I love this ceramic piece by Carolein Smit...

Mobli Update

Mobli is fine! (sigh!)

I'm so glad the vet couldn't find something significant.

Since a week Mobli suddenly wasn't eating and when he tried, he stopped obviously in pain.

We suspected Mobli was having some serious teeth problems again.

This morning I asked the vet to chip Mobli and he answered we'll see....

Earlier he told me it's not common to chip such an old cat and we'll look at the prospects first.

This evening the vet told me Mobli was only suffering from periodontal disease and

was having a minor fever. And he chipped Mobli! To me that's a good sign.
On Monday the results of his blood test will give us some more information.
Let's hope Mobli will lighten up our lives for much longer.

Finally at home he started eating straight away and jumped on my lap for some cuddles ✭

Painting

We're over the moon with our latest buy, a painting from artist Mariës Hendriks.

We loved her work at Without a shadow of a doubt exhibition in 2014.

I think the painting blends in very well. The other art work, Words 4
from To B Here exhibition 2013, is from Mariës's husband Gerard Koek.
