Bird Pot

In the early days ceramic bird pots were used to harvest young birds to eat them.

We are only trying to provide some extra nesting opportunities.

There are terracotta bird pots with different sized openings.

Our first ceramic pot is for great tit, blue tit, sparrow

or whatever bird decides to come and live with us...

Recharge

Nature always helps me to recharge.

Today was a beautiful day so I went for a walk...

Siësta

Most of our ferns are wilting due to the warm weather and ongoing drought.

While watering with a water can, I suddenly spotted a visitor.

Pan is having a siësta. I think I should follow his example ☺︎

Sale!

We have been busy!

We decided to participate in a garage sale.

Besides consuming effort and time it's also very rewarding.

Talking to some really nice people and earning some money

at the same time is the best! (smile)

I spooked Pan (big smile)

While he was strolling through the long grass, I sat down and waited...

I scared the living daylights out of Pan when he jumped out of the long grass!

There Comes The Sun

Mobli has had a couple of rough weeks because he was sick again.

Taking him to the vet is way too stressful so we could only hope for the best.

I'm not sure if it was his diabetics, his kidneys, his old age or a poisoned mouse.

For several days he wasn't eating or drinking. Now skin and bones.

Then it suddenly hit me...

All the things I offered him while he was feeling sick, he considered a risk.

The reason he got this old is just because of his cautiousness.

So I tried something else and he started eating straight away.

Today I visited the pet shop and I bought a lot of different kind of cat food.

Just to get him started and to try and get him back on a special kidney diet again.

We soaked up some sun together and I hope we have at least another spring and summer!

Winter Walk

Zaza Zebra

We had an unexpected visitor today... a zebbbbrrrra finch on our frozen terrace.

The kenderman was impressed by this little guy and didn't know what species it was.

He (of course) didn't believe me when I said I thought it was a "zebra vink".

Thanks to the internet the kenderman finally believed I was right ☺︎

My grandpa and a couple of uncles were bird catchers admirers!

My Mate Mobli

Quite unusual for the time of year, we had two nights of reasonable frost in a row.

But after these cold nights we enjoyed two beautiful days of sunshine ☀︎ 

With Mobli on my lap I soaked up some sunrays on the terrace.

I have noticed my favourite feral is not only getting older but also skinnier.

He's on a veterinary cat diet, supplemented with his own catch of mice and rats.

But his fur is shining, when I call him he comes running to me and you could be
fooled because he looks like a healthy, athletic adult cat at first sight.

He still climbs the fence and jumps on the gate easily.

I can only hope we'll get him trough another winter, he can be with us for at least

another summer and that he'll eventually die in his sleep peacefully ✭

Olives

this year our olive plant has lots of olives

.

We bought two flat pack fanback chairs. Made of recycled plastics (HDPE),
material from milk jugs, juice and shampoo bottles.

We put the chairs together almost without arguing :)

Forget-Me-Not

In the garden we have a sea of blue forget-me-nots and a single white one.

Boxing Day

TLC II

Mobli is home again!

Last night we picked up Mobli at the vet.

The vet discovered, after he completely anaesthesized Mobli
- at first he tried some kind of lighter anaesthetics but Mobli kept fighting him -
one of Mobli's molars was seriously infected so he removed it. Molbi has cataract and diabetes.

He will have Mobli's blood examined as well. It must have been quite traumatic to Mobli!

In the past he was earmarked and castrated after he had been captured.
According to the TNR program (Trap, Neuter and Release)

I provided him some food (he started eating immediately), water and a cat box near the closed exit.

For almost 2 hours I strolled outside the house with Mobli.

He wanted to stay outside but the anaesthetics were still influencing his being.

So finally he just had to go inside for his own safety.

Early this morning hurrah I found some clear evidence...
Out of necessity Mobli had been using his cat box for the first time.
Finally he could regain his freedom so I opened the cat flap.

He disappeared until late afternoon, then we cuddled and now he's sleeping inside again :)
