Warm Wood

We bought this Ahrend chair 18 years ago. It was very ugly!!
The frame was still darkgreen and the wood was covered in foam and a fake leather covering.
The kenderman stripped the wood and we had the metal sandblasted and powder coated in grey.

I use the warmth of wood to balance all the cool whites in our house.

Mobli Was Here Again

Caught in the act.....

secretly visiting........

searching for mouses......

and leaving again.

I've collected graniteware and enamelware (mostly white) for years.
Most of the collection is in boxes on the attic.
Some things are nice vintage objects in my house and just a few are for daily use.

Thankfully the blackbird is still on her eggs.
It has been raining all day!
These donkeys can't stand the rain but they love to look outside :-)

In early spring we pruned ours willows .
Now we have a nest of a Blackbird!
It's not that special but we can see, that in those 6 years we live here, the wildlife is appreciating our way of gardening.
But the spot this Backbird chose is a quite exposed and windy place and when it starts raining she will get soaking wet.
Hopefully her eggs will turn into healthy blackbirds.

You will probably ask yourself "what is that?".
In august I will go to a music festival and I was thinking of travelling light :-)

Once I had something similar, two smaller light brown leather belt bags from the Dutch army.
But that was 25 years ago and I lost it over the years.

This military belt bag was from the Austrian army.
It's very handy to take your wallet and (nowadays) a mobile phone.
And I think it's so much nicer than a nylon belt bag!
I bought it at Etsy.

Leptura maculata (aka Rutpela maculata, Strangalia maculata, Longhorn beetle, Spotted Longhorn, Gevlekte Smalbok)
The kenderman made a photo of this insect on our Angelica.
We see lots of "weird" (unknown by us) insects.

This combination looks very promising........
It's Echinacea pallida and Knautia macedonica.

Last sunday we went to a junk sale.
I found this wooden 7-up soda crate.
Just according to my colour scheme :-)

Leaving the Nest

On monday the youngsters (Great tits) flew out of the nest.

This is how the nest box was left behind.......quite greasy :-))

Cephalaria gigantea

We're thinking about our best friends sister, who's having a very difficult operation today.
Keeping our fingers crossed!!!

Yesterday evening our visitor Mobli was back again.
Always good to see him!

Agapanthus africanus alba (aka African lily)

The first Agapanthus flower bud is starting to become a beautiful flower.

Although we realise we are incredible lucky with our house and garden, we keep dreaming :-)
We dream about a small frame-house, loam walls, fire place, self sufficiency (vegetables, collecting rainwater, solar panels), lots of land for the donkeys, chickens, meadows, hedge laying etc.
Everybody needs a dream!
