Beach Find

I was so trilled with this find!

I completely forgot to photograph it while it was still laying on the beach (smile)

In the past we found some small (fossil) vertebras,

but never such a big one like this (10,5 x 6,5 x 1,2 cm)

with an intervertebral disk on top.

It probably belonged to a fish, dolphin or seal...

Update: I found some similar examples of harbour porpoise

(in Dutch: bruinvis) vertebrae on the internet.

Beautiful Day

We have been visiting nature reserve 't Zwin again.
The new visitors centre Zwin Nature Park is looking good!

We'll have to visit the visitors centre some other time,
we just couldn't wait for the beach any longer (smile).

Only during low tide you can cross the Belgian-Dutch border.
Today time was on our side so we crossed the border, we visited
beach pavilion De Zeemeeuw and returned to Belgium before the tide came in.
On the beach you may find some fossils. Our fossil catch: 2 teeth + 1 vertebra.
Give it a try and find the fossilized shark tooth in the photo...
