Hex

A delicious crêpe with goat's cheese, parma ham and alfalfa-sprouts.
And a glass of white wine.

Rosa glauca

Yesterday it was pretty cold, we had some rain and it was quite windy.
But we did have some sunshine and the surroundings were as good as ever.
We will be back next time.

This is what we bought:

  • Briza media "Limouzi"
  • Orlaya grandiflora
  • Salvia "Dear Anja"
  • Coreopsis "Limerock Ruby"
  • Agastache rugosa

Short-toed Treecreeper

Wednesday evening we saw a couple of Short-toed treecreepers (aka Certhia brachydactyla) gather nestmaterial and dissappear under the second tile (from the top) on the left.
It was obvious they were building a nest.
We were really enthusiastic and then we did something really stupid!
We scared them off trying to make a picture :-(
On thursday and friday we saw them looking for food under all the tiles but no more nest material flights.
Hopefully we will get a second chance.

Reflection

Light, shadows and reflections make your home interesting.
Less decoration means more to me.

Scythe

The Jackdaws (aka Corvus monedula, kauw in Dutch) are foraging......

The kenderman has been scything again.
After (most of) the work has been done,
(it's better for the wildlife and for the KM :-) not to mow all the grass at once)
we're now on our way to Hex, festival of rare plants, roses and kitchen gardens.

Spider

We saw a white crab spider (aka Misumena vatia, goldenrod crab spider, flower spider, flower crab spider, white death spider) in the Angelica.

Crab spiders don't build webs to catch their prey.
Instead, they rely on camouflage and ambush.
These colourful spiders blend into their surroundings amongst leaves and flowers,
where they lie in wait for unsuspecting flies and bees. Some species can even change
colour to match the flower they are on.
