Plant Nursery Time

We visited nursery Bastin with my parents-in-law, more than 25 years ago.

Later we visited regularly, once or twice a year.

Due to covid it stopped and now, after 5 years, we returned.

Oh oh, three trays filled already...

While the kenderman was searching for plants, I had a stroll around the nursery...

and was almost immediately accompanied by a new friend...
(it's two strangers on the photo above, not us)

My adorable new friend...

... waiting for me while I was taking photo's ♥︎

Only after our 'fruitful' visit we read:

"... wij hebben alles al" we don't need anything more, we have it all

We should have seen this text earlier! (smile)

Amphibians migration

Slowly the migration of amphibians like toads and salamanders comes to an end.

(female Alpine newt or in Dutch Alpenwatersalamander)

Volunteers have been helping the animals to cross the roads safely by putting up screens,
digging in some buckets and transporting them to the other side a couple of times a day.
Their help can't prevent road casualties completely but
it increases the amount of casualties seriously.
Sometimes I go there to give a helping hand.

You can find some information about the Alpine newt here : English , Dutch
You can find some information about the migration of amphibians here: HYLA

I admire the commitment of the volunteers.
Going there for weeks in a row even several times a day!
Chapeau!!!! ★

Magnificent Magnolia

Today it's Hanami Matsuri (Cherry blossom celebration) in Japan.
The Japanese Cherry (Sakura) is flowering now.

Usually I prefer the smaller flowers of a cherry, apple or pear tree.
But right now the big Magnolia trees in front of this old house are stunning!
I just couldn't pass without taking some photo's...

Spring Walk

Above picture was taking just after the kenderman assured me
it wouldn't rain all afternoon and we left home...
just before it started raining! (smile)

For a while we took shelter underneath the trees
and then we could continue our walk...

Passengers are not allowed to feed the sheep in any way
but the grass in their mostly plowed field is way too short now!
The Soays really appreciated the lucious grass the kenderman provided.

We were chuffed... until they started head butting for the grass...
