Black Day

Yesterday was a black day. We said goodbye to my sister-in-law.
She was taken away quite suddenly and she'll be missed.
The vicar spoke a lot of beautiful personal words about her.
What touched me most was the sunlight falling through the
stained glass windows, lightening up her coffin.
In the end a black butterfly was fluttering in the chapel.

Hunting

I've been feeding Mobli for 3 months now. He gets cat food twice a day.
He gained weight fast and he's still hunting :)

Tears

Four weeks ago a close relative was involved in a serious car accident.
Against all odds we kept hoping she would make it. Sadly enough she died yesterday.
It's still a bit unreal. In a couple of days we'll say a final farewell to her.
We're still burning candles and our thoughts are with her husband and children.

Attack

I bought myself a textile cable for my iPhone. I'm such a pathetic romantic :)

Nim has always been fascinated by cables...

and destructive...

Priceless

At the Design Market I saw this beautiful worn drawing table with chair.
While we were busy admiring, two Japanese men bought it.
When we talked to the seller, he told us he once had 30 of these tables.
The table was especially designed for the Academy of Architecture in Gent
by Willy Van Der Meeren. Since the seller was specialised in Flemish design,
he bought the whole lot. When I asked him about the price,
he explained to me "The fewer I have left the higher the asking price.
This specimen was sold for 3.000 euros today". Ka-ching!!!

Brussels Design Market

Despite the fact we dislike driving through Brussels city centre,
we have been visiting Brussels Design Market today.

The market itself was a bit dissapointing.
But the location, an old habour station, is really beautiful!

Morning Ritual

This is one of my morning rituals..... photographing the Bocholt-Herentals canal.
Usually I take some pictures at high speed while the kenderman is driving,
trying to catch the morning magic. When I sometimes ask him to stop,
he says it's too dangerous. Your not allowed to stop at this particular point.
This morning, the kenderman was off from work so I stopped the car :)

 before... at high speed...

this is really difficult..... first focus at the horizon
and then take the shot in only a matter of seconds.....

and always a second shot...

You can see some older examples here and here.

Fingers Crossed

A family member was involved in a serious car accident.
Today she'll have a second operation.
So many friends are thinking of her and hoping for the best!

Kruidjie-roer-my-nie

This Melianthus has been benifiting from the mild winter.
It's bigger than ever and I'm hoping it will flower this year.
