Joie de Vivre

Today we accidentally ended up at Vivre...

We left with some furniture measurements and a tiny battered chest of drawers ☺︎

Brocante

It has been a while since we visited the biggest European brocante market...

Lots of people and lots of things to look at...

being on on top of the defensive structures...

some live music...

Lots of antiques shops are open on Sundays....

And I just keep coming back to these, too expensive, museum cacti specimen jars...

Vitrine

I kept thinking about a DIY show case for my beach finds and
for weeks I've been looking for a glass cover for the ceramic tray with beach finds.
Today I found a glass tray... but it didn't fit over the ceramic base.

Then I tried this wooden top of a ceramic tray as a base. Perfect fit!

Underneath here you can see why I need such a heavy glass protection (smile)...

Brocante

Yesterday morning we visited the brocante market in Tongeren...

Hey! some Mainzelmännchen

We really liked the vintage battered orange Renault nervasport car from 1938
but despite the new wheels it was still way too expensive.

One of the antique shops along the route we visit regularly...

Find some of our earlier visits to Tongeren market hereherehere and here.

Treasures from Crisnée

Yesterday we went to a brocante market in Crisnée,
I saw something I liked so I asked: C'est combien? (French for: How much is this?)
The seller in Dutch: Dat! Dat is de tand van een beer! (English: It's a bears tooth)
(we continued our conversation in Dutch, just read my free translation underneath)

Me: That's no bears tooth! It's a bone, just take a look at the structure inside.
The seller: Yes, yes it's a bone... it's a dinosaur bone!!!
Me: That's no dinosaur bone! And I wasn't asking you what it was (smile),
I just want to know your price...
A smiling seller: 1 euro?

I also found a small torch with a bullseye (aka walleye, dome) lens
and a torpedo style (aka Hamilton's, bomb, egg) soda bottle for a couple of euros.

We already had a simular torch and bottle...
This might be the beginning of a new collection... (big smile)

International Worker's Day

Being Labour Day today, we went to a brocante market in Crisnée.
We're always hoping to find a treasure in the amazing piles of junk.

Junk Shop

Today we visited Briekantiek again.
Sjoerd and Gertha thank you for your hospitality. I really enjoyed our
conversation, the tea, the african music and the warmth of the stove.
