The stunning view from our hotelroom... 

Back in August we decided to visit the French coast Côte d'Opale.

Longing to see Cap Gris-Nez and Cap Blanc-Nez for ourselves.

Hoping for some clear weather so we would be able to see the British coast.

Last weekend we finally went...

Dogs love being on the beach but I doubt whether they like to sit in the mud...

Chuffed!

In case you've been visiting my blog for a longer time,
you might know I'm a huge fan of artist Gerrit Neven.
You can find earlier posts: here and here.

Recently we were lucky enough to meet and talk to him again!

When we bought our fist watercolour from this artist,
I did mention I'm really fond of pollarded willows (smile).

And then unexpectedly we received an email... Gerrit Neven was
hesitating to say goodbye to his most favourite watercolour ever but...
he was probably also realising we would cherish the work in our living room
after having been the pièce de résistance in his living for quite some time.
Thankfully he thought of us, his Belgian admirers (big smile).

Vague Monday Morning

I can use a song like Match Bet from Squid to get me started (smile)

Never Enough

We already had quite a few nest boxes...

You can my earlier posts here:  

bird pot, dormouse, dormouse boxes, 

great-tit, great-tit, leaving the nest, nestboxes,

common swift, bee boxes and nest box recycled material

but there's enough space left for a couple more...

We've added several common starling bird pots... the opening is 45 mm

the one with the smaller opening (35 mm) is a sparrow pot

new "terra potta" on the side, weathered wooden swift boxes on the front facade...

Bird Pot

In the early days ceramic bird pots were used to harvest young birds to eat them.

We are only trying to provide some extra nesting opportunities.

There are terracotta bird pots with different sized openings.

Our first ceramic pot is for great tit, blue tit, sparrow

or whatever bird decides to come and live with us...

Harlingen City

We've never visited Harlingen city before.

Despite the weather, we decided to go downtown this time...

 in Harlingen harbour a "spouting whale"...

"Boeien!"

Harlingen is a really nice place and we'll certainly go back.

Goodbye Beach
